A resin set from the Reskit brand intended for replacing the engine exhaust nozzles on a model of the Grumman F-14D Tomcat carrier-borne fighter in 1:72 scale. The nozzles are made in the open position, with the petals spread. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a detail accessory: the plastic model has to be bought separately. The thin-walled casting offers rendered petals and the inner part, which injection-molded plastic in this scale usually only suggests.
The F-14D was the last production version of the Tomcat. It combined General Electric F110-GE-400 engines with modernized avionics and cockpit instrumentation. It can be told from the older machines with TF30 engines by, among other things, the shape of the tail end and the exhaust nozzles. The position of the petals changes with the engine setting, so the choice between the open and the closed version is one of the decisions on a Tomcat model that affect the overall impression of the tail end.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent and remove mold release agent residue. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, level the surface by wet sanding and protect your airways while doing it. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting. On an open nozzle you can see well inside, so darken the inside and only then work with metallic shades on the outer petals; build the heat staining up in thin layers and bring the edges out with a dry brush.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the fit with your kit before buying.
