A plastic kit of the Soviet experimental interceptor Mikoyan I-3U (I-420) in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Modelsvit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit in 1:72 scale captures the Soviet experimental interceptor Mikoyan I-3U, also known under the internal designation I-420. It is an injection-molded plastic model in a form for more advanced modelers (a short-run mold). The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The I-3U was a prototype Soviet interceptor designed in the mid-1950s. The machine was to be equipped with the Uragan-1 onboard control system intended for semi-automatic guidance of the flight and the gunnery. Although it showed good flying qualities during the trials, the whole program was stopped in 1958 because of the unreliability of the turbojet, and the aircraft never went into series production.
With a short-run mold, expect careful cleaning up of the parts, sanding down any molding residue where needed and a dry test before gluing. Use a thin cement for plastic, and we recommend filling and sanding the joints of the fuselage and the wings. Apply a base coat (primer) before spraying, touch up any small unevenness and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. You can lift the metal surfaces with a fine shade of aluminum.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
