A plastic kit model of the upgraded F-15J Eagle fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF), fitted with an infrared search and track system (IRST), in 1:72 scale from the Japanese company Platz. It is a different variant from the standard F-15J: the IRST sensor is placed ahead of the cockpit and the model allows the upgraded form to be built with the option of carrying modern air-to-air guided missiles and drop tanks.
The F-15J is the Japanese license-built version of the American air superiority fighter F-15 Eagle. As part of an upgrade, the IRST system was tested and deployed on some machines - an infrared sensor placed ahead of the canopy, which allows passive search and tracking of air targets without using the radar. The upgraded machines also carry newer air-to-air armament.
Work with thin cement for plastic and an airbrush. The F-15J carries a two-tone gray camouflage, with which panel lines brought out by a fine wash come into their own. Take care over the correct placement of the IRST sensor ahead of the cockpit. Prepare masks for the glazing; seal the decals with a varnish and assemble the underwing armament according to the scheme you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
