A paint mask set for building and painting plastic aircraft models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Masks save work everywhere you need a sharp boundary between two colors or where you want to protect an area the paint does not belong on. They are most often used on the clear parts of a canopy, on wheels, for covering areas that have already been sprayed and for masking the position of national markings. Against cutting shapes out of tape by hand they save hours and above all they hold a shape that in 1:72 scale is on the edge of what can be cut freehand.
The masks are applied to a clean, dry, degreased surface, and always before spraying. Press the edge of the mask down carefully, otherwise the paint will run underneath and the edge will bleed. Apply the paint in thin coats and preferably in several passes, because a thick coat creates a step at the edge. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, at a sharp angle and slowly; if you leave it on the model for a long time it comes away less easily and it may pull the paint with it.
The form of the masks differs from one item to the next: some sets are self-adhesive, others are paper templates that are laid on. Before you set to work, then, go through the manufacturer's instructions and check how the particular set is fixed on and which kit it is cut for. As a test it pays to stick one mask onto some scrap plastic and find out how it holds and whether it leaves a trace when taken off.
The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
