Among the units of British bomber aviation there served No. 300 Squadron as well, made up of Polish airmen who after 1939 had worked their way through Romania and France to Britain. It passed through biplanes and twin engine types and from the spring of 1944 flew four engine Lancasters from Faldingworth airfield in Lincolnshire. Its machines appeared over the Ruhr, over ports and over targets supporting the advance of the ground armies. It was among the units that went through the war from the first months to the last raids of 1945, and it paid for that with heavy losses.
The sheet covers a trio of aircraft with the code letters BH-B, BH-X and BH-F from the period 1944 to 1945. Small nose art and rows of mission tally marks belong with them, that is the part of the decoration that draws the most attention on a finished model. One of the machines carried the nickname Yak Bus, the kind crews invented to their own taste and often without regard to regulations.
A four engine bomber has a long fuselage and large surfaces, so plan the order of application in advance. The large code letters come first, because everything else is aligned to them, and only then the small marks, where the exact position relative to the cockpit matters. Let the small marks dry without hurry; they are thin and tear while being moved. The kit and paints have to be obtained separately.
