A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the flamethrower version of the Sherman M4A3 tank with HVSS suspension and the POA-CWS-H5 system from the period of the Korean War, in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Dragon. The special feature of the kit is the flame projector tube mounted coaxially with the main weapon in the turret; the barrel of the flame gun is made of metal. The HVSS running gear is reproduced from several parts and DS type tracks are included. The driver's and the gunner's hatches can be built open or closed, and decals for several marking options are enclosed.
The Korean War broke out in June 1950 and the Sherman tank played a significant role in it on the side of the United Nations forces. The POA-CWS-H5 flamethrower system came about by installing a flame projector alongside the main weapon in the turret - the tank thus kept the firepower of its gun as well as the ability to use flame against fortified positions. The HVSS suspension with wide tracks improved the ride compared with the older vertical suspension.
In this small scale watch the cleanliness of the seams on the hull and the turret. First assemble the HVSS running gear, then close up the hull. Seat the metal barrel of the flame gun after painting. Use a primer and an airbrush on the plastic; build the olive green up in layers and transfer the markings and numbers with the decals onto a gloss surface. Complete the weathering with a dark wash into the recesses, drybrushing on the edges and fine dust pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
