This is not a kit and not a decal sheet but masking stencils for spraying camouflage. The set is worked up for one particular machine marked with the blue number 60, so the layout of the patches matches a single aircraft and not a general scheme of the type. The English word clover is rendered in modeling practice as clover or pie camouflage - it is a pattern made up of soft rounded patches that gather into clusters resembling a clover leaf.

The real subject

The Su-25UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the twin-engine Su-25 ground-attack aircraft intended to support ground forces from low altitude. It differs from the single-seat version in a lengthened nose with a second, higher-set seat and glazing for the instructor. Ukrainian machines of this line carried several different camouflage patterns during their service.

How to handle organic patch shapes

• Rounded patches reveal every unevenness of the surface - sand it with a fine abrasive and degrease it before masking.
• Apply the paint in several really thin coats; a heavy coat creates a step at the edge of the mask that you can feel, and that is distracting with a soft pattern.
• If you want a softer transition, you can lift the mask very slightly along the edge - the spray then carries over more gradually.
• Press the mask down carefully all around its perimeter, above all where there are rivets and engraved lines, which paint likes to creep under.
• Once the masks are off, compare the shades by looking at the whole model from a distance; the final coat of varnish will tie small imperfections together.
