1:72 Matra Durandal

Matra Durandal bomb, 4 pieces (1:72)

A set of four pieces of the French Matra Durandal anti-runway bomb in 1:72 scale from Reskit. It is a resin and 3D-printed accessory for aircraft armament, not an airplane kit. The faithfully executed bombs will complete the external stores of combat aircraft models.

The real subject

The Matra Durandal is a French anti-runway bomb designed to destroy airfield runways. After release a parachute slows it down, then a rocket motor drives the warhead through the concrete surface and the bomb creates a crater in the runway that is hard to repair. The bomb was carried by a number of tactical combat aircraft and was used to put enemy airfields out of action.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release agent off the parts, separate the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Shade the armament according to period references and add subtle accentuation and lettering from decals if you use them. Wear respiratory protection while sanding.
