The Nakajima Ki-43-II Kai Hayabusa in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand AML — a plastic model of the legendary Japanese army fighter that the Allies designated by the code name Oscar.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic model of the Japanese army fighter from the Czech brand AML. The kit captures the late Ki-43-II Kai form, and in 1:72 scale it makes a compact model that fits any display case. AML has long devoted itself to less usual subjects, so this is a welcome chance to build the Oscar, as the Allied code system called the type.
The Ki-43 Hayabusa was the backbone fighter of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force throughout the Second World War. It relied on light construction, a radial engine and excellent agility, further improved by extendable combat flaps. The II version brought the more powerful Ha-115 engine, a tougher airframe and two 12.7 mm machine guns; the Kai form is told above all by the separate exhaust stacks of the individual cylinders, which added a thrust effect. The type served in every theater of the Pacific, in Burma and in China, and in the hands of experienced pilots it remained a dangerous opponent even at the end of the war.
With kits from smaller production runs it pays to dry-fit the parts before gluing and, if need be, to sand the joints lightly. The camouflage most often consisted of a dark green upper surface above a light gray underside, and mottled patterns were common as well; a semi-gloss finish and a fine wash in the panel lines will do the model good. Before applying the decals we recommend a gloss base and a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
