HGW 1:72 P-47D Razorback over New Guinea, part two is a decal sheet with markings for American P-47D fighters in the early guise with the raised spine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet for models of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter aircraft in the early guise, which is called razorback for the smooth spine behind the cabin. The set is the second part of a series devoted to machines deployed over New Guinea. It is not a kit but an accessory – decals for a model in 1:72 scale that you obtain separately. An overview of the color schemes and of the particular aircraft is in the enclosed instructions.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was a single-seat fighter aircraft with a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine and a turbocharger placed in the rear part of the fuselage. The early series had a raised spine behind the cabin and a framed canopy; only the later guise was given a bubble canopy with the spine cut down. In the war in the Southwest Pacific the razorbacks served over New Guinea mainly thanks to their great range, sturdy construction and performance at higher levels.
Always varnish the base under the decals with gloss varnish – a matte surface holds air and the decal silvers. Cut the motifs out tightly, soak them briefly in warm water and move them with a soft brush. With large symbols on the fuselage and the wing, decal softener helps the motif settle into the engraved lines and over the riveting. At the end, go over it with matte or semi-matte varnish according to the type of surface, and only then do the weathering.
It is a decal sheet, not a model. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
