Decals in 1:72 scale for the Polikarpov I-153 fighter biplane in the form of machines that Finland captured and went on using.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the Polikarpov I-153. The theme is machines that fell into Finnish hands and then flew in colors other than the ones they were built for. Captured aircraft are a rewarding subject precisely because they join a familiar type with unusual markings.
The I-153 was a Soviet single-engine fighter biplane. Its upper wing was cranked into the shape of a gull's wing, which gave the pilot a better view upward, and its landing gear was retractable, which was unusual on a biplane. It was agile and awkward to face in a turning fight, but against faster all-metal monoplanes it was already lagging behind at the start of the war. Some of the machines ended up in the hands of the opposing side and went on serving.
The wet method is the usual one: cut the element out close to the printing, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until it starts to slide freely off the backing. Slide it onto a dampened spot, straighten it with a soft brush and blot off the excess water. Gloss varnish under the decal will limit silvering, and a decal softener helps on the texture of the fabric covering. Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version; a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined beyond repair.
For modelers who build prewar and early wartime aircraft in a small scale and who like the less usual fates of machines. The placing of each element is described in the instructions in the package.
The package holds decals. The kit, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included, unless stated otherwise.
