This is a supplementary decal sheet in 1:72 scale from the British brand Xtradecal, not a kit. According to the name it carries national roundels in ten sizes and stripes for the vertical tail in four sizes. A sheet like this suits as a universal stock of markings: it makes up decals that a kit is missing or that were damaged during the build, and it lets you mark even models built from boxes with no usable decals.
On camouflaged British machines a simplified form of the national roundel became settled in the post-war period, in which only the red and the blue areas remained. The white ring, which made the marking conspicuous against a dark finish, was left out on tactical schemes. The stripes on the vertical tail were reduced and simplified by the same logic. This marking therefore appears on a range of British combat and training types and is usable across a large part of post-war production.
The base is what decides. A decal belongs on smooth gloss varnish: a matte surface is microscopically broken, air stays in its irregularities under the film and shows as light milky edges. Clear-coat the model with a clear gloss varnish before the decal work, therefore, and let it cure properly. Cut the roundels close to the print, so that no needlessly wide border of carrier film is left. Because the sheet offers several sizes of the same marking, lay a decal dry on the area and only then choose the one that matches the dimensions of your model.
