This conversion set from the Czech brand AML lets you fit a Spitfire model with the universal type C wing with full cannon armament, four 20 mm Hispano cannons. The resin parts in 1:72 scale serve the Mk.Vc and Mk.VIIIc variants alike and give the model a rarer, combat-looking configuration that ordinary kits mostly cannot be built in. It is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model.
The universal type C wing was designed to take various combinations of armament, from machine guns through a mixed fit up to four 20 mm Hispano cannons. In practice most Spitfires flew with two cannons and four machine guns, but the full four-cannon fit appeared for instance on aircraft defending Malta, where firepower against bombers was prized. Four barrels protruding from the leading edge are therefore a recognition mark of particular aircraft and periods, and this conversion allows exactly such a model.
Before gluing, check the spacing of the barrels against the drawings and pre-drill the holes in the leading edge. Glue the barrels with cyanoacrylate glue and align them carefully by eye from the front and from above, as the parallelism of the four barrels decides the final impression. The muzzles can be carefully drilled out with a micro drill, and the surroundings lightly blackened after painting as traces of firing.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings and requires a base kit of the aircraft. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
