Su-17/22 Ladder is an accessory set in 1:72 scale from LP Models — a boarding ladder for the cockpit on its own. It is not an airplane kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory in 1:72 scale for models of the Soviet Su-17 fighter-bomber and its Su-22 export versions. It holds the boarding ladder for the cockpit on its own, without any other ground equipment. It is an accessory for a finished model, not an airplane kit. The parts are cast from resin and come with casting blocks, which is what the handling described below follows from.
An airplane model standing in a display case gives nothing away about how big it is. A ladder run up to the cockpit is the simplest way to give the scene a sense of scale and to suggest an operational situation on the apron. Because the ladder is not glued to the model, it can be added to a piece finished long ago — all you do is stand it alongside and the scene changes without a single intervention in the build.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap so that any residue of mold release agent disappears; otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a sharp knife at a distance from the part and level the face with a file or with wet sanding paper, wearing respiratory protection. In 1:72 scale the ladder is slender and easily damaged, so handle it with tweezers and bond it with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally in spots. Over a thin primer lay down a single technical shade, run a dark wash into the corners and under the steps and bring the edges up with a dry brush; a light dusting of pigment at the foot of the ladder settles it into the surface of the apron.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The airplane model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
