The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 with a tandem cabin and an enlarged vertical tail surface. A machine parked on the apron is recognized by two things: a ladder brought up and wheels secured. The set covers both at once, so a model stops looking as if it had been torn out of flight and gains a clear context. It comes into its own on a simple display-case base just as well as in an airfield diorama with figures and ground equipment, where the ground equipment is what gives a scene scale and readability.
Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface, otherwise neither the paint nor the primer will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, do not break them off, and protect your airways when sanding; it is best to sand wet. They are glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not join resin. After the primer, apply the paint in thin layers, so that the fine rungs of the ladder are not flooded. It pays to paint the chocks differently from the aircraft: worn wood or rubber with a dusty patina looks more convincing than a clean factory shade.
