The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 with a tandem arrangement of the cabin and an enlarged vertical tail surface. Access to two seats one above the other is different from the single-seat machine, so the ladder for the UB version has a shape of its own and is not mistaken for the one for the single-seat Su-27. A ladder brought up is the simplest way of setting a model in a display case into a story: the machine stops looking like an exhibit without context and begins to look like equipment just parked.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that the remnants of the mold release agent disappear; without that neither the paint nor the primer will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter, do not break them off, and protect your airways when sanding. They are glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not join resin. After the primer, apply the paint in thin layers, as otherwise the fine rungs will be flooded. A dark wash will bring out the steps and the frames, and a fine dry drawing over the edges will suggest scraped metal where the crew boards.
