The Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 with a tandem cabin and an enlarged vertical tail surface. You will recognize a parked aircraft by a ladder brought up and wheels secured; this set covers both at once. A model thus stops looking static and gains the context that is always present in photographs from an apron. It comes into its own on a simple display-case base just as well as in an airfield diorama with figures and ground equipment.
Wash the resin castings in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release agent disappears from the surface; without that the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, do not break them off, and protect your airways when sanding, ideally sanding wet. They are glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not join resin. After the primer, apply the paint in thin layers, so that the fine rungs of the ladder are not flooded. The chocks look more convincing when you paint them differently from the aircraft: worn wood or rubber with a dusty patina at the ground.
