1:72 T-34/76 release STZ mod. 1942 Part 2

T-34/76 model 1942 from STZ production in 1:72 scale - decals, part two

A decal set in 1:72 scale with the markings of T-34 medium tanks with a 76 mm gun, specifically of model 1942 vehicles coming from the Stalingrad tractor factory. It is the second part of the Colibri Decals series on this subject. In the package is a decal sheet, not a kit.

The real subject

The T-34 with a 76 mm gun went through a number of simplifications during production, meant to speed output up. Vehicles from the individual factories therefore differ from one another: in the shape and surface of the welded or cast turret, in the design of the hatches, in the mounting of the external fuel tanks, in wheels without rubber tires and in the quality of the welds. Machines from the production of the Stalingrad factory are characterized for a modeler by precisely these features, which are recognizable on a well made kit in 1:72 scale.

Application tips

Before you reach for the first decal, it pays to prepare the base. After painting, wipe the model with a clean lint-free cloth and rid the areas the printing is to go onto of dust and fingerprints; the grease from a hand will reliably push a decal away and it will then hold only by its edge. Work in a room at ordinary room temperature; in a cold space the adhesive stays stiff and a decal releases from the backing reluctantly, while in heat the film dries before you manage to position it. The dish of water and the cloth should be clean, because a single grain of dust under the film creates a visible bump which cannot be put right once dry.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building Soviet armored equipment in 1:72 scale
• Those who want markings corresponding to a particular production batch
• Builders of dioramas with equipment from the year 1942
• Modelers for whom the decals supplied with a kit are not enough

This is a decal sheet in its own right. The model, paints, varnish and softener are not included in the package.
