An injection-molded plastic kit of a fire-fighting vehicle built on the chassis of the Unimog U 1300L off-road truck, in 1:72 scale. The TLF 1000 designation refers to the category of water tender with a tank of around a thousand liters. ACE has a whole family of Unimog vehicles in the same scale, so the model goes well with the ambulance and cargo versions. The number of parts, the contents of the box and the choice of decals are given on the box and in the instructions.
The Unimog U 1300L is a medium off-road truck with all-wheel drive, portal axles and great ground clearance. It was that clearance that made it a favored platform for special bodies: ambulance, workshop, signals and fire-fighting. Water tenders of this category were used where ordinary fire apparatus cannot get — off road, at airfields and with military units. The vehicle was built in various forms for decades, and many examples are still in civilian service today.
Assemble the chassis, the axles and the frame on a flat surface so that the vehicle stands on all its wheels. Paint the cab and the body separately while they are still accessible, and only then join them. Red paint needs a light base, otherwise it looks washed out; spray thin layers and let them dry thoroughly. Varnish the surfaces with gloss before the decals, and once they have dried, even the finish out to the degree of sheen you want. Keep the weathering restrained — fire-fighting equipment tends to be well looked after, so light dust on the chassis and a gentle emphasis of the panel lines are enough.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
