This product is a resin detail accessory in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer GasPatch models, not a model of an aircraft. It contains castings of the aviation Vickers machine gun in the form modified in French service, two pieces according to the name. It serves to swap the plastic part from the base kit for a markedly more finely rendered piece.
The Vickers was a British machine gun of 7.7 mm caliber. In the aviation version water as a coolant was replaced by air cooling and the barrel jacket received holes or slots. In the First World War period the French air service used the Vickers alongside domestic types and modified the weapon to its own requirements, among other things in the area of the mounting and the controls.
After the part is separated, a stub of the casting block remains on the seating surface and has to be removed. Use abrasive paper of a finer grit and sand wet. Water binds the dust that would otherwise float around the room and at the same time stops the paper from clogging. Resin dust must not be inhaled, so work at an extraction point or at least with a respirator, and when you have finished wipe the table down with a damp cloth rather than with a compressed-air duster. Finally polish the sanded surface with a fine sponge. Matte sanding marks would otherwise keep showing through a thin coat of paint.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted as resin castings. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
