About product

Yak-1b GC-3 Normandie 1:72 (Brengun)

An injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Brengun in 1:72 scale. The package contains plastic parts, photo-etched parts for refining the detail and a decal sheet with several marking options for the machines of the GC 3 Normandie-Niemen fighter group.

The real subject

The Yakovlev Yak-1b was an improved version of the successful Soviet Yak-1 fighter with a new lowered canopy over a cut-down rear fuselage decking, which improved the view, and with strengthened armament and armor. These machines were also flown by the French volunteers of the Normandie-Niemen squadron fighting on the Eastern Front.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting; the Soviet camouflage and the French markings show to best effect once a gloss varnish has been laid down under the decals. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue.

Who the model is for

  • For modelers interested in Soviet fighters of the Second World War
  • For collectors of Normandie-Niemen squadron aircraft in 1:72 scale
  • For intermediate builders of small scales

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
