A brass profile with an outside diameter of 1.8 mm and a bore of 1.6 mm, 305 mm long. A heavier size for prominent tube details.
Responsibility details are not available.
One point eight millimeters on the outside and one point six inside place this piece among the heavier sizes of micro tubing. The wall thickness stays at one tenth of a millimeter here as well, so the part looks delicate even though its diameter is already clearly visible on a model. The piece supplied measures 305 millimeters.
The larger bore opens up possibilities that the narrower sizes do not offer. A wire can pass through it as a guide pin, a fishing line imitating a cable can be threaded through it, or a narrower tube can be glued inside it to create a two-stage muzzle. An item with an outside dimension of 1.6 millimeters slides inside.
Bending is more demanding here than with the small sizes, so working around a cylindrical core of the appropriate radius and proceeding in small steps is recommended. Soft soldering holds reliably and the seam disappears once sanded. Cyanoacrylate glue is adequate for gluing it into a hole in plastic, where no load acts on the metal.
Typical targets are the exhausts of motorcycles and tractors in the larger ratios, gun barrels, the posts of roll cages, hatch handles or fuel tank necks. After cutting, the end can be sanded into a slight taper, which otherwise only a turned part can reproduce.
Anyone building in the larger ratios reaches for this diameter fairly often. In small scales such a tube would look oversized, whereas on a model in 1:16 or 1:9 it matches the thickness of real necks, handles and frames very convincingly.
