This item is neither a kit nor a set of replacement parts, but an accessory for painting. These are masking templates in 1:48 scale, cut for the road wheels of the Nashorn self-propelled gun from the kit by the maker Tamiya. Quickwheel supplies masks for the same vehicle in versions for kits from other makers and in other scales too, so without naming the target kit the variants could not be told apart. The exact number and the dimensions of the templates are stated on the box of the set.
The road wheels of tracked vehicles have rubber tires, and going round them by hand with a brush is among the least rewarding jobs of the whole build. An exactly shaped mask takes that work over, because it covers the face of the disc and leaves free only the rim, which is then simply sprayed or painted. The result is a crisp and even edge on all the wheels, which tells clearly in 1:48 scale, because there are many wheels and any irregularity between them catches the eye at once.
Clean the wheels up first and paint them in the base shade that is to stay on the disc, and let the paint cure thoroughly. Then lay the mask on, press it down all the way around and check that it does not stand off anywhere, or paint will run under. Apply the shade of the rubber tire in thin coats, and rather in two goes than in one heavy coat. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not once it has fully cured, so that the edge does not tear. Correct any small overruns with a fine brush. At the end a light wash and pigments come in handy to soften the transition between disc and tire.
It is not a kit. The set is an accessory to a model; paints and a kit are not included in the package.
