A set of waterslide decals, 1:72 Douglas ERA-3B Skywarrior Part 1 from the maker Print Scale, for models of the American carrier aircraft in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals for models of the Skywarrior in the ERA-3B version in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory for a finished model, not a kit. The set serves to mark the machine once it has been painted and is the first part of a line, so further sheets following on from it may exist. The extent of the sheet and the schemes chosen are given on the box of the set.
The Skywarrior was a large twin-engine jet aircraft of the US Navy and ranked among the biggest and heaviest machines regularly operated from the decks of aircraft carriers. Its original attack role was gradually taken over by other types and the airframes were converted into tanker, reconnaissance and special versions. The ERA-3B was a conversion intended for training crews in an electronic warfare environment: it simulated jamming and hostile emissions during fleet exercises. These machines served for a long time with specialized squadrons.
On the model the Skywarrior has large continuous surfaces on the fuselage and the wing, on which long lettering bands and large national insignia show to advantage. Polish the base and go over it with a gloss coat so that the film has nothing to catch on. Soak the large decals longer and transfer them onto a sufficiently wet surface so that they can be moved; use a soft brush drawn from the center toward the edges to press the water out. Bubbles form easily under long bands, so pierce them with the tip of a scalpel and go over them with a decal softener. Gray and white schemes are usually left in a semi-gloss sheen at the end, so choose a satin rather than a deeply matte final coat.
This is a decal set, not a kit. The model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
