Walls and Floors - Wallpaper A is an accessory for building an environment in 1:35 scale, not a kit. It consists of a printed wallpaper pattern with which the interior walls of buildings in a diorama are covered. The Walls and Floors line also offers floor patterns, so a whole interior can be put together from the floor up to the wall.
Wallpaper tells a living space apart from a workshop or a store faster than any other detail. As soon as a wall is covered with a pattern, the viewer reads the room as a home even if military equipment stands in it. It works most strongly in a ruined house with a torn-off facade, where the wallpaper has stayed on the wall facing the street; this motif is one of the most frequently built subjects of urban fighting. It also finds use in undamaged interiors, in parlors, offices and corridors, and as a contrast to bare brick or plaster.
Clean the wall up first and paint it with a matte color, because every unevenness prints through the thin paper. Cut the motif to the height of the room with a small overlap that is trimmed off with a scalpel along the floor and the ceiling once it is glued down. It is glued with a thin layer of PVA glue; press the paper down from the center outward so that no bubbles remain. For the effect of a run-down interior the wallpaper in ruins is torn and lifted in strips, and the color of the brickwork or the plaster then shows under the peeled-off area. Damp patches and dirt are laid on with a weak wash and pigment, and smoke marks with dry pastel. Matte it at the end so that the surface does not shine.
This is a diorama accessory, not a kit. The base, glue, paints and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
