A set of terrain features in neoprene with a lava flow design from the maker Green Stuff World. It is neither a kit nor a mat for a whole table: these are separate pieces with a finished design that you lay out on a playing surface, on a mat or on the base board of a scene and mark a terrain feature with them. Neoprene is soft and thin, it stays flat and straightens itself out after being rolled up, so the features are easily stored and the figures do not trip over them when being moved.
First lay the features out dry and try the composition, and only then build the rocks, rubble or tufts up to them. The lava design is warm and very saturated, so a scene looks better when you keep the surrounding terrain subdued: gray, brown and burnt shades let the glowing bands stand out, while colorful surroundings drown them. You can soften the transition between the edge of the neoprene and the mat by scattering a fine grit or scatter material along the edge and adding a few tufts. If a freshly unpacked piece curls, lay it out for a while and weight it down, and the material will straighten itself out. Count on the surface as finished rather than as a base to be repainted: neoprene does not take ordinary modeling paints well by spraying, and solvent glues do not belong on it.
For wargaming players who want terrain that is laid out and packed away in a moment, and for modelers who need a variable scenic surface without building a fixed diorama. It suits cases where there is no room for permanently built terrain as well.
Figures, models and accessories are not included in the package.
