The set deals with one of the most viewed places on a model. The panel is printed in color and in layers, so it has a relief and the instruments in a cockpit come across spatially. It is applied with water just like a decal, without gluing and without bending metal parts, which makes it a rewarding accessory even for modelers who avoid photo-etched parts.
The North American P-51D Mustang is an American single-seat fighter aircraft of the Second World War with a liquid-cooled engine and a bubble canopy. It is precisely that canopy that makes the cockpit a clearly visible space: on a model in 1:32 scale it can be seen into from practically every side, so a panel without detail is immediately conspicuous.
Use clean lukewarm water, ideally boiled and cooled; hard water leaves white marks of limescale once dry. Hot water softens the backing too quickly and dissolves the adhesive before you transfer the decal. Soak the element only briefly, then, take it out together with the paper onto an absorbent surface and let it rest. After a while the decal will start to slide across the backing, and that is the moment when it has the best working properties. Hold the paper against the panel that has been painted and gone over with a gloss varnish, slide the decal off with a brush and straighten it against the frame. Then draw the water off, apply a thin layer of softener and push the air out with a cotton swab from the center toward the edges, so that no silvering arises. Do not touch the element until it is completely dry, and at the end unify everything with a thin layer of matte varnish.
