This set from Kits-World is intended for the GRU-7 ejection seats of a model of the Grumman F-14A carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. It holds full-color decals with a raised relief, that is the harness straps and the related detail, applied with water to the seats from the kit. It is neither a kit nor a resin part. In 1:72 scale it is the quickest way to get legible belts into both cockpits: painting a strap of that width with a brush is long minutes of work and the result tends to be uneven.
The F-14A was a two-seat carrier-borne fighter with a variable-geometry wing. The GRU-7 seats were made by the British firm Martin-Baker and were fitted in both stations of the cockpit, that is for the pilot and for the weapon systems operator. The harness is light and conspicuous against the dark padding, with boldly color-coded controls.
For small decals in this scale you need tweezers with flat jaws, a soft round brush, a dish of lukewarm water and cotton buds. The tweezers handle the backing paper only, never the softened film. The decal itself is slid off the paper and fine-tuned with the brush. The order matters just as much: paint the seats, coat them with gloss varnish and apply the decals before you set the seats into the cockpit tub and close the fuselage. In 1:72 scale a finished cockpit is beyond reach.
This is a decal set, not a kit and not a finished model. The seats and the paints are not included in the package.
