This decal sheet from Kits-World brings markings for a model of the American Republic P-47 fighter in the C and D versions in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor an accessory part; they are decals with which you replace or supplement the markings supplied with the kit. The manufacturer makes a whole range of Thunderbolt subjects, including several in the same scale, so when ordering go by the exact designation and number of the set, not merely by the aircraft type. Use the illustration on the packaging of the particular set as your guide.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was a single-engine fighter with a radial engine and a turbocharger, one of the heaviest single-engine fighters of its day. The C version and the early production D series had what is called the razorback, that is a fuselage spine running smoothly into the cockpit canopy with a restricted view to the rear; the later series received a bubble canopy. The aircraft was used both for fighter duties at high altitude and for attacks on ground targets.
Large markings and bands behave differently from small numbers. Trim the film as close to the printing as you can, so that no edge shows through on a more matte-varnished surface. Wet the target area before laying it down; on a wet surface a large decal slides better and does not grip before you have aligned it. Always squeeze the water and air out from the center toward the edges, in small sections. The base has to be gloss, a softener will help over riveting and engraved lines, and the whole model is unified at the end with matte or semi-matte varnish.
