A decal sheet with the emblems of Luftwaffe fighter units. A unit badge used to be the element that set a machine apart from dozens of otherwise identically painted aircraft, and it was most often carried on the sides of the forward fuselage, below the cockpit. For a modeler it is therefore a rewarding accessory: it shows at once on a finished model and yet calls for no change to the build. The sheet is prepared for 1:48 and 1:72 scale.
Before you wet the sheet, check the instructions to see whether it is a self-adhesive version. A soaked self-adhesive film is ruined for good, whereas a wet decal can be soaked later as well. With the usual wet version, proceed as follows: cut the motif out as close to the artwork as you can, soak it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and leave it aside until the film releases itself from the backing. The surface of the model should be smooth and gloss, because on matte varnish silvery patches form under the decal. Move the decal into place, set it true, blot the surplus water away with a soft cloth and press it home with a softener, so that the film is drawn into the engraving and over the convex shapes. Once it is completely dry, go over the area with protective varnish.
The sheet will be appreciated by builders of German aircraft in the two most widespread scales who want to add a unit badge to a model, and by those topping up their stock of markings for models under construction.
The model, the kit, paints, varnish and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
