1:144 RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom, 2000-2021. 225mm(W) x 225mm(H)

Display Base for a 1:144 Model: RAF Scampton, Lincolnshire, 2000 to 2021

A printed sheet for use under a finished model. It shows the paved surface of RAF Scampton air base in the county of Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom, in the form matching the span of years 2000 to 2021. Format 225 x 225 mm.

A narrow window of time has a practical consequence

A twenty-year span is a fairly short stretch within this range. The narrower the window, the easier it is to keep a scene consistent, but the sooner a mistake shows. The paint scheme, the national insignia and the fit of the aircraft should match this very period; with modern machines the schemes change more often than one would expect, and even a difference of a few years shows on a model. A tip for choosing: look at what markings the decal sheet you will use carries, and check which years it claims.

Recommendations for the scene

• The square 225 x 225 mm format is worked out for one model in 1:144 scale.
• Choose ground crew accessories within the same time frame; older equipment will part company with the scene just as an older aircraft would.
• Do not stand the model exactly in the corner of the print; the edge of the sheet tends to be the most noticeable thing in a photograph.
• If you want the same station in a larger area, the manufacturer makes the motif in larger scales as well; tell them apart by the exact designation and the dimensions.

Who it is for

For modelers in 1:144 scale with an interest in modern machines who want to show a model on the surface of a particular station rather than on a neutral base.

The base is a printed sheet intended for use under a model. The model, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
