A printed display base for a 1:72 model, wood-lined revetments, Finland and Russia 1940 to 1944 from Kits-World measures 675 x 450 mm and shows a surface laid from wooden planks.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet, 675 x 450 mm, departs from the run of concrete airfield surfaces. It shows a surface laid from wooden planks, that is the solution with which stands and the approaches to them were firmed up on soft, muddy or frozen ground. The base is neither a kit nor a decal; the model is stood on it.
At the field airfields in Finland and in the western part of Russia in the years 1940 to 1944, a paved surface was no matter of course. Plank mats and wood-lined revetments were built from whatever material was at hand and dealt above all with the load-bearing capacity of the ground during thaws and on sodden soil. For a modeler it is a rewarding texture: wood has a pronounced pattern, clearly legible joints and a color that contrasts with the paint of an aircraft, so the model does not disappear against it.
The simplest use is as a base in a display case or in front of a camera. The motif will take more than that, though: a wooden surface leads logically into snow, mud or grass, so it combines well with other elements of a scene at the edges. Given the period, it also suits ground vehicles and figures in the same scale, not only aircraft.
This is a printed accessory for displaying and photographing a model. The model, figures and other accessories are not included in the package.
