This is not a model of the aircraft but a detail accessory for a kit you have already bought. The set contains resin parts for the area of the rear electronic equipment of the Grumman EA-6B Prowler carrier-borne aircraft in 1:48 scale. It thus supplements a different area of the airframe from the sets aimed at the nose and the radar, so both sets can be used side by side on one model. The manufacturer is Black Dog, a Czech brand of cast accessories for aircraft and military vehicles.
The Prowler was a carrier-borne electronic warfare aircraft derived from the Intruder attack aircraft. It carried a crew of four and an extensive set of jamming and analysis instruments distributed inside the airframe as well as in underwing pods. In service the equipment was often accessible through service panels, so a model with the covers folded open matches the reality of maintenance aboard an aircraft carrier. The exposed inside is at the same time the main reason why resin sets pay off with this real subject.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a detergent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the areas off by sanding them wet with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, as plastic cement has no effect. Try the seating dry and if necessary enlarge the cutout in the kit carefully, so that the set bears down without strain. Begin the painting with a primer, then the base shade, a dark wash in the recesses and a fine dry brush on the edges. Complete the open panels with the covers set aside and laid beside the model, which brings the whole thing to life a great deal as a scene.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
