1:100 Renault R35 with the welded FCM turret is a resin kit of the French light infantry tank in an unusual turret version from the manufacturer Zebrano.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin kit of the French light infantry tank R35 in a form that differs from the production vehicles at first glance: instead of the usual cast turret it carries an angular welded structure designed by the FCM shipyards. Zebrano casts this range in resin, so the parts are cut off the casting blocks before assembly and joined with cyanoacrylate.
The R35 was the most numerous French tank of the late 1930s; around fifteen hundred were built. The crew consisted of two men, the hull was made up of several cast sections bolted together and the main armament was a short 37 mm gun. The welded turret from FCM had faceted walls with more favorable angles than the cast version. Under sustained firing, however, the welds cracked, and so the longer gun went in the end to the cast turret; re-arming the welded version was planned only for the second half of 1940 and the defeat of France stopped it.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, not with cutters, which would chip the thin resin. Sand wet and with your airways protected. Apply the primer thinly so that the rivets do not disappear, and keep the shades lighter than reality would suggest; in this scale every dark tone is optically deepened.
The kit comes as unassembled, unpainted resin parts; glue and paints are to be obtained separately.
