A masking set for a model of the Lun ekranoplan in 1:144 covers the cockpit glazing and saves you cutting tiny frames out of tape.
Responsibility details are not available.
Templates for spraying a model of the Lun ekranoplan in 1:144. They are not decals, nor parts, but masks that are stuck onto the glazed surfaces before spraying and taken off after it, leaving clean glass with a sharp frame underneath. The model is sold separately.
The Lun is an enormous machine, but in 1:144 its cockpit becomes a shape the size of a fingernail and the individual frames of the glazing are fractions of a millimeter wide. That is exactly the size at which cutting strips out of masking tape by hand stops working: the knife will not reach into the corner, the strip curls and the frame ends up either too thick or crooked. On a model in 1:35 or 1:48 the same inaccuracy would be merely cosmetic; here it decides whether a cockpit looks like a cockpit.
A finished mask holds the width of a frame along its whole length and is cut to the shape of a particular kit, so it fits into the glazing. The final impression is in the end a matter of scale: in 1:144 a model is not judged by its rivets but by its silhouette and by whether the thin lines are clean. The frames of a cockpit are among them.
For the modeler who builds equipment in 1:144 and knows that in this scale a clean frame does more than any added detail.
This is an add-on to a plastic model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
