What the masks are for

The masking items are cut to shape in advance, so cutting tape and measuring frames by eye falls away. They are stuck onto a clean and degreased part before spraying, sprayed over and taken off once the coat has dried. The result is a sharp edge to the frame with no paint run, which on glazing is the first thing a viewer notices on a finished model. The extent of the masks in the package is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

The real subject

The MiG-21F-13 is an early production version of the Soviet MiG-21 fighter, a machine with a delta wing and a slender fuselage whose front section is formed by a circular air intake with a cone in the middle. The aircraft was built and used in enormous numbers and is permanently represented in the modeling range.

How to apply the masks

• wash and degrease the part before sticking the masks on, as a mask does not hold on a greasy surface
• carry the items with tweezers or the tip of a toothpick; do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers
• press the edges down with a blunt tool, so that paint does not run underneath
• spray the paint in thin coats, as a heavy layer makes a step at the edge
• take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, not after several days

Who it is for

The set is prepared for the Trumpeter kit, and the shapes of the items match its parts. On a model from another maker they need not fit, even if the scale is the same.

The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
