About product

A German tanker telling a joke, pose No. 1, 1:35, PANZER ART

A separate resin figure in 1:35 with a genre subject. The figure is caught mid-conversation, that is in a gesturing, relaxed position. It is an add-on to a finished vehicle model or for a diorama, not a kit. For a modeler such a subject is interesting because it gives a scene action with no need to build an extensive setting: a second figure listening is enough.

The pose and its place in the line

The marking pose No. 1 means the first variant of the figure within the line. The manufacturer also offers further sequence numbers and a set version, which can be combined into one scene. The particular gesture is apparent from the illustration on the packaging.

Building and painting tips

Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the remains of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the faces after the cut with a file; sand resin wet and with your breathing protected. Look over the mold parting lines against the light and remove any flash with a scalpel. With a gesturing pose, give attention to the hands and to any separately cast fingers, as those are the most fragile places. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, fill the gaps and sand them down.

Start the painting with a primer. Do not build the black overall of a tank crew out of pure black, or the surface will flatten out. Start from a very dark gray or a dark blue-gray and pull the edges, the crests of the folds and the lapels out gradually with light; deepen the shadows with a thin dark wash. On a figure whose theme is the expression it pays to give time to the face: build the skin in calm transitions and paint the eyes only once the skin is finished, with a thin brush and with care. Set the leather and textile accessories apart by a difference in gloss rather than a markedly different color. At the end bring the surface together with a matte clear coat and dust the lower part of the figure with pigment to match the base.

Who the figure is for

  • Makers of dioramas looking for a genre, noncombat subject
  • Modelers building German armored vehicles in 1:35
  • Anyone interested in painting a face and black overalls
  • Collectors of resin figures with a fine rendering of detail

The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is a separate figure. The manufacturer also offers a further sequence number and a set version in the same line.

The scene comes out best when you stand two figures of the same line side by side, because a gesture of conversation needs a counterpart.

Use a very dark gray as the base and light the edges and the folds gradually. Pure black flattens the surface out optically.

Wash the mold release agent off it, cut the casting blocks off, apply a primer and join the parts with cyanoacrylate glue.
