About product

DAK tanker loading ammo No. 1 — a resin figure in 1:35

A separate figure cast in resin in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. It is not a vehicle kit, nor an add-on for a cargo bed, but a figure that is added to a finished model or to a diorama scene. The casting is supplied unpainted and before it goes into a scene it calls for cleaning, separating from the casting block and painting.

Execution and pose. The cut of the clothing matches a light tropical uniform: a loose jacket with chest pockets and long trousers. Compared with the winter variants the surface is markedly less broken up, the cloth holds sharp folds and offers large continuous areas. The pose follows from the name — the figure is captured handling ammunition, that is with the torso leaning and the arms carried in front of the body. Such a bearing works well at an open hatch, at the rear of a vehicle or in a scene with crates on the ground. The No. 1 marking tells this pose apart from the other figures of the same subject in the line.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap first — there tends to be a residue of mold release agent on the surface that keeps the paint from adhering. Separate the casting block with a fine saw or a knife; never break it off. Sand the mold seam lines and any flash down wet and protect your airways while doing so; resin dust must not be inhaled. Glue the joints with super glue (cyanoacrylate); ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin.

Painting. Start with a thin coat of primer — it evens the surface out and reliably reveals any seam left unfinished. Lay the uniform in with a base shade, lighten the raised places and the edges of the folds and work a darker glaze into the recesses; with thin summer cloth the contrast comes out more sharply than with winter clothing. Build the skin from a base tone through glazing up to the details of the face. At the end even the gloss of the whole figure out with a matte or semi-matte clear coat, so that it matches the surface of the vehicle model.

Who the figure is for

  • For modelers who build vehicles and dioramas in 1:35
  • For those who want to give a static model scale and a human dimension
  • For more experienced builders — working with resin follows a different procedure than plastic
  • For collectors of figures who compose a scene from several separate poses

The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. It is a separate resin figure in 1:35 that is added to an already built model or to a diorama.

Super glue based on cyanoacrylate. Ordinary cement for plastic models does not bite into resin and the joint will not hold.

The sequence number marks a different pose of the same subject. The figures are designed so that they can be used side by side in one scene as well.

Yes. Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the residue of mold release agent, separate the casting block, sand the mold seam lines down and apply primer.
