A resin figure in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. It is not a vehicle kit but a separate figure for a finished model or for a diorama scene. It is supplied unpainted; before use it faces cleaning, separating from the casting block and painting.
Execution and pose. The Waffen-SS marking in the name describes the execution of the clothing and the equipment; for a modeler's work it matters mainly because camouflaged clothing usually comes into play on these figures, that is painting a pattern in a small scale. The pose follows on from the subject of loading ammunition, and the number No. 2 means a different bearing of the body than the No. 1 variant has. The pair is carried out so that in a scene one figure reacts to the other — one is passing, the other taking over. It is exactly this arrangement that turns figures at a vehicle into a scene rather than mere decoration.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, separate the casting block with a saw or a knife and sand the remainder down wet with your airways protected. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for plastic does not bite into resin. Before the primer, go over the figure under a sharp light — the mold seam lines most often run along the outer side of the arms and along the sides of the torso, and once painted they are hard to put right.
Painting. Over the primer, lay the base tone of the cloth down, then the camouflage pattern from dark patches to light ones, with softly bounded edges and in scale — a coarsely painted pattern optically flattens a figure. Handle shadow and light only over the finished pattern. If you are building a pair with the No. 1 variant, mix the shades of the skin and of the base color from a single batch, or the figures will be out of tune in color side by side. A final matte clear coat evens the surface out and ties the figure in with the vehicle model.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
