A resin set of figures in 1:35 from the line of the maker PANZER ART. The subject is the crew of the American medium tank Sherman. The set is meant for bringing a finished vehicle model or a diorama scene to life — the figures give a static model scale, a direction of gaze and an action that the vehicle alone does not have.
Why resin: a casting captures sharper edges of the equipment, thinner edges of the clothing and finer modeling of a face than injection-molded plastic. For that you pay with a more demanding preparation — a division into several castings, casting blocks and the need to glue with super glue.
The set contains several figures; check the exact number on the box of the set. The figures are cast in parts, so that the mold can manage the undercuts at the arms, the heads and the equipment. The mold seam lines run along the edges of the clothing, so they are easy to clean up once glued. The typical use is seating them on the hull and the turret of a vehicle or laying them out around it.
Wash the parts in warm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the face down; protect your airways while sanding resin. Before gluing, try the figures dry directly on the vehicle model — the mating surfaces often have to be adjusted for the figure to sit naturally. Glue with super glue, fill the seams and spray with primer. Paint from the base tone through a darker glaze in the folds to a lighter emphasis on the edges; build the skin in thin, heavily thinned coats. Apply a gloss intermediate coat before the washes and the pigments, and knock the gloss down at the end with a matte clear coat, so that the figures match the surface of the vehicle.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
