A resting pose is rewarding for diorama work: a figure that is not hurrying anywhere holds a scene together and looks natural beside a parked vehicle. At the same time it is more demanding in color — relaxed clothing has deeper and more irregular folds than taut clothing, so the quality of the shading shows more.
A casting of casting resin tends to be divided into several parts because of the undercuts at the arms and the head; the mold seam lines run along the edges of the clothing. The material does not bond with cement for plastic. The figure suits a vehicle model, a diorama scene or an object to be painted in its own right. With a resting pose, try the figure dry directly in the place where you want to seat it — the mating surfaces often have to be adjusted. Paint from the base tone through a darker glaze in the folds to a lighter emphasis on the edges, and build the skin in thin, thinned coats. Apply a gloss intermediate coat before the washes and the pigments, and knock the gloss down at the end with a matte clear coat.
