The StuG III Ausf. G was a German assault gun on the chassis of a medium tank, built in large numbers until the end of the Second World War. It went through a series of changes during production, and it is by them that individual examples are told apart. This item matches the version with a pot-shaped barrel mantlet, known as the Topfblende, with an added opening for the machine gun, and with the mid type of muzzle brake.
The set replaces the mantlet and the barrel of the 7.5 cm gun as a single whole, so both parts meet without any guesswork about shape. The turned part is true to its axis and smooth along its whole length, so on the model the barrel keeps a straight form and does not have to be cleaned up at length. The combination of a pot mantlet with an opening for the machine gun and the mid type of muzzle brake is one of several versions the Ausf. G went through during production, so the set also helps to capture one particular appearance of the vehicle.
Before gluing, offer the part up to the kit dry and compare its diameter and length with the part it replaces; adjust the seat in the front of the superstructure accordingly. Wash and degrease the surfaces before painting. On a smooth turned surface paint holds worse than on plastic, so primer helps and at the same time unifies the shade of the accessory with the rest of the model. Leave the barrel separate while painting and fit it only at the end, so that you do not lean on it during the rest of the work.
