About product

Road wheels for the M3 Bradley and the LVTP-7 1:35 (PANZER ART)

This is not a model of a vehicle but a set of resin road wheels that replaces the parts from the box. On tracked vehicles the running gear is one of the most clearly visible places on a model and at the same time the place where plastic parts most often disappoint: they tend to be split into two halves, to have a parting line across the circumference and to have a softened rubber tire. A cast resin part removes these troubles, because it is in one piece and holds the detail of the hub and the tire sharply.

The real subject

The M3 Bradley is the reconnaissance variant of the American Bradley armored family, built on the same chassis as the infantry version. The LVTP-7 is an American amphibious armored vehicle for landings and troop transport, later designated the AAV-7. Both vehicles use related running gear, which is a long-known fact in modeling practice, because replacement tracks for this family are commonly offered as shared between both subjects. Thanks to that, one set of wheels is usable for both builds.

Building and painting tips

Wash the wheels in warm water with dish soap and cut the casting blocks off in places that will not be visible once assembled, typically on the inner side of the hub. Sand the cut wet with your airways protected. Before fitting, check that all the wheels sit in the same plane, as otherwise the track will not bear evenly. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the tire dark gray rather than black and the disc according to the scheme of the vehicle. The running gear is at the same time the dirtiest part of a model, so most of the dust, mud and wear belongs here. Add the metallic sheen on the faces where the wheel touches the track at the very end with graphite or pigment, otherwise you will cover it with varnish.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of modern American armor in 1:35
  • Modelers building the amphibious armored vehicle and the reconnaissance variant alike
  • Those bothered by split plastic wheels with a parting line
  • Anyone interested in a thorough finish on the running gear

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

Yes, both subjects use related running gear. That is why shared replacement tracks are commonly offered for this family of vehicles.

Sets of this kind are usually worked out for one vehicle. The exact number of wheels is stated on the box.

The tire dark gray instead of black, the disc according to the scheme of the vehicle, then dust and mud. Apply the metallic wear where it touches the track at the very end.

The main work is cutting the casting block off and checking that all the wheels lie in the same plane. Otherwise the track will not bear evenly.
