About product

MO-S 7 Antosovice 1:1000 (ROP o.s.)

A model of a work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications in 1:1000 scale from the Czech maker ROP o.s. A reduction of 1:1000 is practical for fortification structures: the work is shown whole, with the shape of the rear wall and the arrangement of the embrasures, and yet it takes up little room on a shelf. The model follows on from a range of further works in the same section, so a complete collection can be built up from them step by step. It is supplied unpainted, to be finished with modeling materials.

The real subject

The infantry blockhouses designated MO-S were built in the second half of the 1930s as part of a continuous line of heavy fortifications in northern Moravia and the Ostrava region. They were reinforced concrete works with embrasures for flanking fire, which covered one another and together sealed off an area; their equipment included observation cupolas, a tough rear wall and interior facilities for the garrison. The code name Antosovice refers to the local village beside which the work stands. A number of the blockhouses of this section have survived and are today of interest to researchers and collectors alike.

Building and painting tips

Wash and degrease the model before painting and apply only a thin primer, so that the edges of the embrasures and the engraving are not clogged. Mix the concrete from several close matte grays, with a slight cast toward green where the real work would have a damp north side. Apply water staining and aging marks strongly thinned and in several thin layers. Deal with the ground using fine material, as a coarse scatter gives the scale away at once. The work comes out well on a dark base, where a brief label with the designation of the blockhouse can be added.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Czechoslovak fortifications and military architecture
  • Modelers putting together a collection of works from one fortified section
  • Anyone interested in the regional history of the Ostrava region
  • Modelers who enjoy working in small scales

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, unless stated otherwise. Glue, paints, a base and material for the ground are not included in the package.

Yes. Works of the same section in the matching 1:1000 scale can be set on a shared base to show how they were laid out in relation to one another.

Yes, the demands do not lie in the building but in the painting. The key is matte concrete from several close shades and only very thinned aging.
