A resin accessory set for modelers building the British A34 Comet cruiser tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the tank — they are cast accessories that are placed on the hull, the fenders and the turret of the base model. The castings are shaped so as to seat on the particular faces of this type, so the stowage does not look like a randomly glued bundle but like equipment that really does have a place somewhere on the vehicle.
The Comet was a British cruiser tank of the end of the Second World War, following on in design from a range of earlier types and committed in the last months of the fighting in Europe as well as in postwar service. Vehicles in combat use tended to be loaded with the personal and technical equipment of the crew, because on long moves a tank effectively carried its own support with it. It is exactly that accumulation of equipment that sets a model built from the box apart from a model that looks like a vehicle in service. The set adds that layer without having to shape the stowage by hand from filler and foil.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the release agent is gone. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and sand the mating surfaces wet with your airways protected. Try the arrangement dry before gluing and note the positions — once the super glue is applied there is no time to look for a composition. Paint the stowage apart from the vehicle and best of all before gluing it on: each object differently, with its own shade and degree of wear. Fabrics slightly faded and matte, metal darker and with a hint of scuffing, wood in warmer tones. Unification is then provided by a shared layer of dust and a fine wash into the gaps between the stowage and the metal.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the model of the tank is not part of the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
