A set of resin wheels meant to be swapped for the plastic parts on a model of the American Chevrolet G7107 truck in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a detail accessory. The castings reproduce the particular tread of Firestone tires and come with discs, so the model gets the most conspicuous place sorted out, where a plastic part tends to be softened by the parting line of the mold.
The Chevrolet of the G7107 range is an American truck of about one and a half tons payload with four-wheel drive, built in great numbers during the Second World War and also delivered to the Allies under wartime aid. It served to carry loads and troops, as a chassis for workshop and signals bodies and as a tractor for light guns. Off-road tires with a coarse pattern were ordinary equipment on these trucks, and the tread differed according to the supplier — which is exactly why replacement wheels are offered in variants by tire maker. This set matches the Firestone pattern.
Wash the wheels in lukewarm water with dish soap, cut the casting blocks off with a fine-bladed saw and level the surfaces with a file — on wheels take care that the roundness of the tread is kept. Sand with your airways protected; it is glued with super glue. Apply a primer before painting. The tire should not be coal black: a gray-black base looks more convincing, and once the gloss is knocked back with a matte varnish the sidewall can be lightly dusted with pigments. Paint the disc separately, ideally before it goes on the axle, and bring out the transition between disc and rubber with a dark wash. Apply mud mainly into the tread and on the lower part of the wheel.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
