A resin add-on set in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It holds idler wheels of the Jagdpanzer 38 in the mid pattern of the Prague BMM works and is intended for one model. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a replacement for parts, thanks to which the running gear matches a particular period of production.
The Jagdpanzer 38 was a German light tank destroyer built on a reworked chassis of the Panzer 38(t) light tank. It carried a 7.5 cm gun in a steeply sloped front armor plate, with the drive sprocket at the front and the idler at the rear. The vehicles were built from 1944 in two works at the same time and a whole range of running gear parts changed in the course of production. The mid batches of Prague production used an idler wheel different in shape from both the early and the very late examples, which is a pointer for placing a model in the right period.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and rid them of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, dress the area with a file and do the sanding wet or with a respirator. It is glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not bond resin. Do the dry fit before you start gluing - the position of the idler wheel sets the sag of the track and a mistake is hard to put right. Use a primer for painting and only then the base shade; dust pigments and mud effects stand out most on the wheel around the hub and at the rims.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
