The real subject

The Avia BH.21 was a single-seat fighter biplane of Czechoslovak manufacture from the 1920s. The letters BH in the designation point to the pair of designers Benes and Hajn, after whom Avia marked its types of the day. In its time the machine belonged to the main fighter armament of the Czechoslovak Air Force. For a modeler it is rewarding for what today's jet aircraft do not have: two lifting surfaces one above the other, prominent interplane struts, fixed landing gear and clearly laid out color schemes on which every extra detail stands out.

What the set solves

The accessory is aimed at a model of the Avia BH.21 in 1:72 scale, that is, at a machine of a span of around 9 meters which in this scale comes out at roughly 12 centimeters. The small surfaces of such a model are exactly the place where work by hand runs into its limits and where a prepared element saves time and nerves. The extent of the set and the procedure by which the individual elements are transferred onto a model are given by the instructions of the manufacturer, so go by them.

Work tips

Prepare the surface under the element being applied beforehand: the surface should be smooth, clean and degreased, or a small piece will not seat along its whole length. Work with tweezers with fine points and hold the elements by the edge, not by the center. Before you reach for the model, try the procedure on a scrap of plastic. Once it is finished, protect the model from dust and from direct sunlight.
