A masking set of kabuki paper in 1:48 scale for a model of the Mi-35M attack helicopter, in the basic BASIC extent.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-35M is the modernized export configuration of the Soviet Mi-24 attack helicopter. The machine is conspicuous for the intricate glazing of the pilots' space, which is made up of several separate areas and is lengthy to mask on a model; that is precisely the place where ready-made templates save the most time.
The masks are of kabuki paper. It is thin and pliable, so it adapts even to a slightly curved area, holds only firmly enough to be taken off after spraying without pulling the paint away, and leaves no sticky film behind. The BASIC designation sets the basic extent apart from the more detailed sets of the same range; what exactly the set covers is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Stick the templates onto a cleaned and degreased surface before spraying and press the edges down carefully, so that the paint does not run under them. On intricate glazing proceed one area at a time and do not rush, as a crookedly laid mask can be peeled off and straightened while it is still clean. Apply the paint in several thin coats and take the mask off shortly after it has dried, while it can still be peeled off in one piece. The tip of a scalpel to lift the mask and tweezers with fine jaws will help.
The set is intended for modelers who want the frames of the glazing sharp and do not want to cut them from tape. Compare the shape of the templates with your own model before the build. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
