A small resin accessory intended for equipping a finished kit. It replaces or supplements the armament and stores of a General Dynamics F-16 model in 1:144 scale with the AN/ALQ-131 jamming pod in what is known as the shallow two-band version. The set contains neither the aircraft nor any part of it, as it is solely an underwing store. The material is cast resin, which holds sharper edges and finer surface detail than can be molded in injected plastic at this scale.
The AN/ALQ-131 is an American underwing electronic jamming pod, most often carried on the fuselage station of a tactical aircraft. It is made in several structural forms that differ in the depth of the body according to the number of frequency modules fitted. The shallow variant with two bands has a lower profile and is typical of earlier configurations, whereas the deeper three-band store is noticeably taller. The difference is clearly visible on a model, which is why both versions are offered separately. This item is cut for F-16 models, on which it respects the way the pod is hung on that type.
The part is cast on a casting block. Separate it with a fine modeling saw or a sharp knife, never with pliers, which would crush small resin. Before gluing, wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the remains of mold release agent from the mold are removed. It is bonded with super glue, because ordinary cement for plastic does not soften resin and will not hold. In 1:144 scale, sand only where it is unavoidable, or you will easily wipe away the fine relief. Before painting, apply a thin coat of primer, as paint adheres badly to bare resin. Work with tweezers over a surface, because the part is very small and easily jumps away.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
